I am a software developer mostly in the space of large scale financial information systems and banking. I have always been interested in electronics and software development since I was a kid when I played with my dad's soldering gun and worked a lot with RC cars. I started writing computer programs in BASIC when I was about 10 and our family purchased a Commodore 64 for a family Christmas gift.
My work experience started after a 5 year enlistment in the US military and I decided to go back to school to earn my degree in Computer Information Systems. While going to school I was able to secure employment full time as a software developer in government and gained a lot of experience. Upon graduating I continued working at various shops, some startups and others more established corporate institutions.
I formed my own small consulting company Webforge Software about 10 years ago and periodically do small projects for a handful of clients. It has to be something that really captures my interest or my emotions and I am passionate about for me to engage. I have a full time job and don't need another one.
I am currently a senior software developer and analyst for se2 in Topeka, KS. I live in Lawrence, KS nearby and I am an avid college sports fan and amateur chef. I love trying all kinds of new recipes and techniques and particularly enjoy smoking meat.
One of my big passions is brewing beer, something I have actually become rather obsessed with over the last few years. I read everything I can about it and of course practice the craft whenever I can. I hope one day to be able to open a nanobrewery. My first project with the Netduino is using a temperature sensor to record the temperatures of fermenting beer over the entire fermentation period. I also hope to build some brewing automation components as well.
