For Netduino Go, we have really wanted a gorgeous cable option that matched the design aesthetics of the mainboard and modules.

We also wanted cables that were even more rugged--built off of really high-quality USA-made wire--and great for use in permanent projects.

Since all of our data is digital and error corrected, the basic gray GoCables work fine...but if you're looking for the highest-quality cables then these are for you. They cost about twice as much to make, made from really high-quality wire.

Now available at Amazon.com:
Deluxe GoCables (5 pack) - Amazon.com

These are also available to order through Netduino Authorized Resellers. The part number is GoCable10cm_Deluxe_5pack and the UPC code is 858115002279.

More GoBus modules coming soon, to go along with these gorgeous new cables...

Chris

But I guess they still are like the other cables, you cannot have them longer due to noise?

We have error correction, so it's definitely possible to make them longer. Noise could limit your communication speed with longer cables. For now we've focused on the most popular size so that we can make these in high enough volume to keep the cost down. Chris

I didn't mean that these cables need to be longer, but in lot of posts earlier it is always said that long cables give problems, so, error correction, where is that?, now?, or gobus2?

Hi neslekkim,

Netduino-brand GoBus modules have had early error correction since GoBus 1.0. GoBus 1.5 introduces full error correction, as currently implemented on the Shield Base. One of the goals of GoBus is to make it so you don't have to worry about cable length. If it works, you're good. If it doesn't, the cable may be too long :) But you should never get corruption (which can be a pretty serious issue with traditional component systems). Chris

yeah, but what is long?, for modular system like this, 30cm should not be long, but you state here that:

30cm should be fine, with error correction and retries. Our GoBus 1.0 modules had error correction--but not an elegant retry system. With GoBus 1.5+ devices, you should be able to use the 30cm cables.

We have actually made a bunch of 30cm basic GoCables; once all our modules are upgraded to GoBus 1.5 we'll make those available for sale. I think that there may be some out there already.
