Hello,
I'm a newbie to Netduino...I have received the board today !
Now I have the first problem !
I have a virtual machine (withe WinXP) under VMWARE. I have installed C# express 2010, micro framework 4.1 sdk and netduino sdk. When I insert netduino board into my usb port, I receive the following error "USB device not recognized" !
Why ?
Thanks,
Paolo
I've never been able to get VMWare to support the USB hardware outside of "standard" stuff (mice, keyboards, harddrives/usb drives). I think the host OS has to recognize the USB device before VMware can see it.
And it might be that VMWare doesn't support stuff like this?
Today LED's, tomorrow, the world!!! Well, OK, maybe servos.

How can I install Netduino board driver on the host machine without install all the Netduino SDK ?
Thanks,
Paolo

Hi Paolo,
VMWare support is currently limited for the Netduino. We added driver compatibility in the v4.1.0.3 firmware update. Debugging is still a bit sketchy (i.e. sometimes Visual Studio can't reset/reconnect to the device after deployment) but the drivers should work well now. We hope to have fuller VMWare support in v4.1.1.0 in October (it's actually in the 4.1.1 alpha--but may require special settings in the VMWare environment provided by an updated SDK installer--we're still working out the details).
To update your device, follow the instructions in the v4.1.0.3 firmware thread. You'll need access to a PC for that though...
New Netduinos are shipping with the v4.1.0.3 firmware pre-installed, but we literally just started shipping them that way this last week. It's new firmware.

Using MFDeploy.exe, select USB -> Netduino_Netduino, in Menu Target -> Device Capabalities,
The "SolutionReleaseInfo.solutionVersion" show the Netduino firmware version,

Thank you very much. I have also updated Netduino firmware to 4.1.0.3 version.
Paolo.

May I ask please,
If I use VirtualBox, and an image of Windows XP SP3, and want to install VS2010, the SDK, etc, on a Virtual Machine.
Is everything going to workin VirtualBox?
(specifically Netduino Plus)
Everything needed will be insatlled in the Virtual Machine.
(The virtual machine is also XP SP3)
Thank you very much
