Fridge Wiring Help - how to bypass Defrost Timer

21 February 2013 - 10:00 PM

Hi all,

dont normally mess around with 120V wiring aside from the occasional relay and wanted a second opinion on this.

Its a diagram for a small fridge like you would have behind a bar or in a college dormitory.

the annoying thing about using it is that it has a rotary dial on the back that sets how long it will run for.

I suppose the scenario is that you would have it in a basement bar or a boat where you only want it to run for the weekend.  it maxes out at 24 hours of ON time.

I want to bypass that feature and hardwire it to be on anytime the thermostat is completing the circuit.

In order to do so, I am thinking about adding the connection shown in bright green on the attached diagram.

does that sound like a good idea?
