Intermittent USB connection
25 October 2010 - 02:32 PM
Hi,
I've had my Netduino for just over a month now and I've been using it happily. However a few days ago, I had the device connected and was working away in Visual Studio when I noticed I couldn't deploy. In fact, Visual Studio didn't see the device at all. I tried usual things to get it working again: unpluging USB, plugging back in again, restarting Visual Studio. No joy.
I thought that it might have been the last program I deployed, so I read up on how to use the MFDeploy.exe tool to ping the device and erase the last program but even that tool had difficulty recognising the device over USB. It's very strange, but it seems that the only time the MFDeploy tool sees my Netduino is after a reboot of my laptop and even then I only see the Netduino listed in the dropdown briefly and then it disappears and once again I can't connect to it or get it to appear in the dropdown no matter what I do.
Btw I installed the SDK & MicroFramework on an old laptop of mine and I had the same issues. But I was able to connect just long enough to actually use the erase function. So, it's not the program on the device that's causing the problem.
I suspect the onboard USB is dead, but anyone got any ideas? Anything else I can try?
Cheers,
Andrew
