Trouble getting started - firmware update
10 November 2011 - 11:06 PM
I'm just starting with this, installed SDK 4.2, and in order to use VB I need to update the firmware. It took a while to get the drivers going (XP32-SP3) but when I use MFDeploy and switch to USB I do find Netduino_Netduino as a device. But when I try to ping it I get Error: No response from device. When I try to deploy the update (4.2 RC3), I get a simlar error message. It gets up to Connecting to TinyBooter.
Take a step back I guess. When I first plug it in, the white and blue light go on, then the blue light goes off after 15 seconds or so. So I'm not sure the device is being properly detected. Any hints on where to look?
Trying to get started
15 October 2011 - 06:39 PM
I've bought the netduino board and am trying to install the needed firmware/software. From what I've read, I need NetMF2 and the SDK, and probably have to flash the board. I have VS2010 installed. So I've installed the SDK but can't figure out what to do with NetMF2 - it unzipped but I don't see any installer. There are four Client folders of different flavors however. Am I supposed to build one of the projects and run that?
And for VB support I need to flash the board?
I started this because I went to a Maker Faire and got the Arduino stuff and wanted to see how the MS stuff worked.
