Several community members have asked if it will be possible to use Visual Studio 2012 Express with .NET Micro Framework. I have some good news :) Colin Miller just blogged about the upcoming .NET MF 4.3 release. http://blogs.msdn.co...ss-support.aspx Summary: VS2012 Express for Windows Desktop will support the .NET MF 4.3 SDK. To all those at Microsoft who made sure this could happen...thank you! Chris

Thanks for the update Chris, but the big question for me is; What about 4.2?

Hi Arron,

Thanks for the update Chris, but the big question for me is; What about 4.2?

The .NET MF SDK supports multi-targeting (i.e. use with boards running older versions of .NET MF).

I anticipate that support for .NET MF 4.1 and 4.2 boards will continue with the .NET MF 4.3 SDK. If there's a compatibility issue that precludes this, Visual Studio Express 2010 will of course still be available and will run side-by-side without issue.

Nothing related to the .Net MF, but I'm using VS2012 Ultimate in my office since about a month. I'd want to alert that it looks still unstable than the old VS2010. Sometime the IDE freezes, and the only thing to do is to close the windows with the task manager. So, I'd wait a little bit more before choosing the new 2012: the 2010 is still the very best among all the Visual Studios. BTW, thank Chris for the news. Hope it helps. Cheers
Biggest fault of Netduino? It runs by electricity.

Thanks for the heads up Mario.

Hey Chris, I got an update back that they were going to try and stick the debugging capabilities of dll's off of the memory card in the 4.3 release.

Oh cool. That could be a really powerful feature!

This means we can finally use NuGet packages! This will definitely speed up development for many.
