The Microchip Wifi-chip fitted on the board uses an SPI interface and Netduino supports that. However, the chip is rather dumb in the sense that it doesn't do TCP/IP internally so you must implement that on the Netduino which is much work and would yield quite poor performance.

I would recommend you take a look at another wifi board that has TCP/IP built in. For instance, have a look at this thread:

Yup, that would probably be the absolutely simplest solution.

I have purchased a Netduino Plus and awaiting delivery. Was wondering if any had used an IOGEAR GWU627 Universal Wi-Fi N Adapter Network adapter with this board, I have serval that I use with about everything form video cameras to computers. They are relatively cheap < $35.00 including shipping, come with power supply or can run off of a supplied USB cable (5 volt). They provide 802.11n - 300 Mbps - WEP - WPA - WPA2. Thanks for the information provided in your forum, I will try the WiFi card when the Netduino Plus comes in on Monday.

I haven't used that particular product but I have used a similar product from Dlink. My Dlink device worked well so I doubt you will have any problems with yours, especially since the whole purpose is transparency. Good luck!

I did get a chance to try the WiFi adapter, it worked seamlessly with the Netduino Plus. I had the card up and working in about a half hours time. The adapter and the Netduino are about the same size. The hardest part was that I missed the instructions on how to change the IP address for the Netduino. The range of addresses for the card DHCP was outdide the ones that my Cisco router would take. After that was changed all I had to do was plug them in.
