Wondering if anyone seen or already working on a Firmata implementation for Netduino (or generally NetMF devices) to use Windows Phone as kind of a Virtual Shield, similarly as Microsoft announced for Arduino devices (http://ms-iot.github...0/SetupWVSA.htm,
Too bad Microsoft isn't focusing their own platforms (NetMF), though understandable given the larger community on the other side.

Haven't found any reasonable implementation for Netduino, just checking if there is any effort in progress already before reinventing the wheel aka starting a port. Contributions welcome :)

Hi perpetualKid,

Windows' Virtual Shields basically uses your phone's sensors as virtual I/O (think GoBus for Windows).

We already built a prototype implementation of "Remote Netduino" (using the more powerful GoBus instead of Firmata)--and recommended these features to Microsoft a while ago... It's great to see some of these scenarios getting adopted and publicized in the IoT cores already--and recruiting some non-MS devs over to the awesome MSFT IoT world :)

Let us know what scenarios you'd like to enable with Netduino and Windows Phone (or Windows 10 and Netduino), and I'll see what we can make happen for you guys...

[Also...Netduino is open if someone has a spare weekend... perpetualKid, if you'd like to be involved with coding or beta testing, please PM me; we'd love your help!]
