Hi all! When arriving at the Netduino homepage this morning I found the message "[Redacted] 00101100". 00101100 bin = 44 decimal, so an interpretation could be "Redacted 44" but I still don't get it. Does anybody know what it means?

...As the great Pink Floyd would sing: "Another bug in the board?"... However, I don't think it could be an error...anything boiling in the plate?
Biggest fault of Netduino? It runs by electricity.

Hardly an error.

I'm hoping for the release of a 44 pin Netduino mini with a 200+ Mhz MCU, 1GB Flash and 512Mb RAM on-board :)

Could be, this disussion is exactly what Chris et al want from it...

In the hex way?...
It would be "Redacted 2C", that sounds like "Redacted to see"...

That's probably the correct way to spell it out and so this should mean something is about to be released. My bet would be on a new member of the Netduino family.

Well, if it's a positive balance, it's no problem I suppose. :D

Hmmm..."new member" you say...
If so should be still "protected", and should be turned to be "public"...however that will break the interface...
Bah!...

If you look at the source of the page, the image is called ComingSoon_Redacted.jpg. The Coming Soon is good news... but just what is coming soon?

I'm taking 44 to mean April 4th (4/4). My concern is a more cynical definition of redacted could be "removed". Is the page saying "Removed 4/4" , as in the site is going away on April 4th? I hope not and would rather see the mundane "Coming Soon" banner or something similar....

The old image had the price on it of $34.95... could the redacted mean the price is going up to $44? Could it also mean a new version? Going from Rev B to Rev C... thus the 2C?

Dave, I think you're right on the money. "Redacted 44" means "Something soon to be realeased" or "Released to see" as Mario, our own "Nostra Damus" predicted.

I believe it was Iron Maiden that once sang: "Six, six, six, the number of the beast. Hell and fire was spawned to be released" Posted Image

Well, let's hope it's a true beast to be released from Secret Labs, especially since Fez recently redacted the Cerberus. This bad boy is based on the 168Mhz ARM Cortex M4, 1MB flash and a 192kB RAM strong STM32F4 with a set of features that could make a grown man cry like a sissy. And, naturally, it runs NETMF priced at 25$ for the DIP40 version corresponding to the mini.

A cousin of which you can see a demo of here:

Not sure if this image was up before, but http://netduino.com/.../comingsoon.jpg has the image "create" 11010111, but for all I know this image has been seen before. It's been a while since I've been on here.

I'm with AndrewC with 00101100 being the 4th of april although 2C is cute, you dont really redact something for it to be seen.

I think redacted is used literally as in its censored, nothing to do with with the site being unavailable, or price hikes etc. As for what is redacted we can only guess at. Purely guessing at what it could be i can come up with 3 posibilities

  • A new netduino device
  • A new site layout and structure
  • Micro Framework 4.2 for netduino is Released

I think all 3 a possible, however it would make sense to lauch a new site design with a new framework revison so my money is on 2 or 3. And seeing as 4.2 has been in testing for a while and RC firmwares are available...

Guess we will know soon enough if the 4th of april is significant or not :) carrying on the Iron Maiden quotes

"Do you believe what you hear, can you believe what you see?
Do you believe what you feel, can you believe?
What is real? Futureal
What is real?"

I'd ask to Miss Marple, Sherlock Holmes, and Ellery Queen altogether to solve this mystery. Not sure they will able to get it, though.

I would just day it's because they don't have a picture of the new Netduino yet. I think I agree with the 4/4 date.
