I have a feeling i'm asking something that is possible but not written for Netduino yet.
Is it possible to use several devices with a USB shield? My project is running out of ports on the Netduino (hasn't been actually created yet, but planning stages) and I need to figure out another way to get it all connected.
Thanks!

Hi Johnny Five,
Do you need more pins or more peripherals (i.e. more UARTs, more PWMs, more AnalogInputs, etc.)?
It's pretty straightforward to wire up SPI- or I2C-driven components which will expand your connectivity.

I need more UARTs, and I want to control an external camera via USB (but the ports the USB shield require are used up by an SDMicro Shield...)..
Just out of ports in general. Trying to figure out the best way to get it all connected
And man you guys rock.

There are quite a few SPI-to-UART solutions out there. Here's one that you could use on, say, a breadboard...

You'd need to create a driver for it. Perhaps community members could make suggestions for a few good SPI-to-UART chips and we could start a project to build a seamless SerialPort driver for the most popular one?

I read somet about a plan to release a way to get more pins on the Netduino? How is that coming along?

No definitive timeline right now, but we're working on it.
