Hello everyone,

I've been asked by work to look into the possibilities of taking an input every 2 minutes or so from one of our machines and log that input into a cloud service sql database.

We have a webapi service that we can use to write to the database so no real db framework is needed as I believe there isn't any in the .net MF. Next I need to investigate the hardware. I've been reading the forum for the past couple of days and think I will be ok with the following:

Netduino 2: http://www.coolcompo...ment-board.html

Xbee Module: http://www.coolcompo...-series-zb.html

.Net Micro Framework by Stefan (thank you!): http://netmftoolbox.codeplex.com/

Can someone verify I'm heading down the right path? Is the Xbee ok with the Netduino 2 and the Framework? I'm really excited to be working on this project and I am really interested in what the Netduino could achieve for us!

Finally, with regards to the Xbee, initially db writes will be every 2 minutes but at a later date this may need to be as quick as every few seconds. Will this serial connection to the Xbee be up to the job on our quicker machines?

Thanks for you help in advance.

Paul.

If anyone could help me with this as soon as they could I'd appreciate it as I'm literally ready to go to the store and buy the goods.

Thank you.

Paul.

If you are going to talk to the web, it seems like a WiFi card would make more sense than a XBee card.  I'd start with wired Ethernet and once that was working I'd work on the WiFi.  Sounds like a cool application, keep us posted.
