Those weeks turned into months, we are soon there is one year aniversary on this one.. not to mention all the other stuff that is promised "soon"...Today we take things to the next level. Today we introduce GoBus 1.5. .... Over the coming weeks, we'll be updating Netduino Go and the Shield Base to GoBus 1.5. We'll also be sharing a fully-C# implementation of the GoBus transport layer which can be used on regular Netduinos.

Chris, the one you introduced year ago, isn't it GoBus 1.5?

Yes, we introduced the draft (beta) specification for GoBus 1.5 last year. In addition to community members who have been tinkering on their own implementations of the draft spec, we are working on a more generic firmware release of our own...one that would make it easy to adopt GoBus on third-party IO expansion modules. Chris, still, the same question, do you have at least for some problems any timeline, at least for those couple bugs and Go Bus 1.5,

Chris is it in weeks, months, years, what's your plans?

Hi Chris,
What needs to happen to get things like SD shields that use SPI and things like serial wifi modules to work with the shield base? Are these planned for the next release?
Are there going to be any interfaces for AGENT to work with GO!?
Cheers,
Andy

My understanding of AGENT is that it uses Bluetooth LE for all comms so i would imagine that you would need a Bluetooth LE module for the GO to have it directly interact with AGENT, that said once the network module is out you should be able to write an app for your smart phone connect to the GP via TCP/IP and then use your phone bluetooth transceiver to communicate with AGENT.

Maybe a bluetooth module would inject the much needed interest back in to the netduino Go! project, by allowing it to piggyback off the energy that has been put in to Agent? It would drive interest both ways from people who have an Agent watch wanting to control hardware and people who control hardware wanting another interface device by using the Agent smart watch. I understand secret labs are working hard to make sure they deliver their more commercial product, Agent, for Christmas to all of us backers. Does this mean once the watch is up and the production line running, some energy will go back in to the Go! line? I really hope so, I can't wait to do something useful with my Go!

Andy,
There's a BLE Shield on the Proto-Pic web site.
Maybe Aquarium controller could use an Agent interface....
BTW - I've not got one of these so cannot comment on how it works.

Mark

Cheers Mark!
It looks interesting, but sadly this will take the spi up on the shield base which I use for other things and with the lack of multi shield support this doesn't leave much scope
#Subtext# I was also trying to provoke some interest from Chris and maybe a response?
#Off Topic# How was Manchester mini maker faire and where did you hear about it? I missed hearing about it till too late

Andy,
Proto-Pic also have the BLE Mini which is a simpler module.
Manchester Mini Maker Faire have a web site and they also post on Twitter as @MakerFaireMCR. I also try to make a post in the forums a month or two beforehand to let UK posters/lurkers here know about it. That message can get lost in the general traffic here though.
Personally, I thought this year was more interesting that last year. Tim (dotnetmaker) as there demonstrating the PaperBitsChallenge (powered by Netduino). There was also a few more electronics exhibitors. What I found odd this year was there was less Raspberry Pi than last year. There was one exhibitor who had built a board which to all intensive purposes was a Jupiter Ace running Forth and it was about the size of the Netduino. The board included a keyboard and video out.
A few Hackerspaces were also present - not sure if you are aware but there are a few interesting groups in Manchester for hackers - makes me want to move back there. FabLab were also there - that's a really useful resource and is local to you.
It's a pleasant way to spend an hour or two.
Cheers,
Mark

We've looked at making a Bluetooth LE module for Netduino Go. Right now we're focused on the SD Card, Ethernet, and Gadgeteer Adapter modules--but we have quite a few additional ones in the roadmap.
We're definitely doing work to make it easy to build projects using all of our products together

Is there any road map for go! bus 1.5 to be available in some form that will allow things like the ethernet module and multi shield base support, to come out before Christmas this year?
I'm fully automating my house in the next month and it would be great to have Go! as the core, using either ethernet or wifi on a shield base (serial), plus multiple shield bases for extra SPI, Serial etc etc and maybe since the plus 2 has it....the long waited 1-Wire support?

Hi Chris,
Thanks for the reply, does that mean we are likely to see perhaps an ethernet module this side of christmas which if I remeber correctly uses the STM32? Is there any update on how your testing is going in terms GoBus 1.5 running happily on the STM32?
Cheers,
Andy
