I have a Netduino Plus 2 working until a few days ago.
Now, I can't deploy any Project from VS2012, the device is not shown on the device manager, can't connect via MF Deployment Tool, can't make a hard reset, but the program installed on the Netduino still working.
I try it on three computers, and changed the connection cable.
With MF deployment tool, the ping has no reponse (no error, nothing happends).
Connecting the Ethernet cable, I can ping (with the DOS command) to de Netduino, but can't connect or ping from the MF deployment tool.
Hi Duefectu,
When you press and hold the pushbutton on your Netduino Plus 2--while plugging it into your PC--what does it show up as in Device Manager? It should go into bootloader mode.
Chris
The Netduino Plus 2 uses a different processor and method to erase and load firmware.
Go to the top of the NP2 page and follow the instructions for erasing the board and reload the desired firmware.
MFDeploy works for the Netduino, but the Netduino Plus 2 requires DFUSE Tester to erase.
Chuck
Thanks for your response Chuck, but I'm a bit lost, can you provide me the link of the NP2 page, I only know about this http://www.netduino....plus2/specs.htm and I don't see any útil docs.

Thanks for your response Chris!
When I hold the button and connect the usb cable, the power led and the led keep light. I guess this is the bootloader mode, but the MF Deploy tool and the ST DFU Tester can't detect the Netduino Plus 2
It's a way to hard reset via hardware. I try to connect +3.3v to the metal square below Digital I/O pin 0 while power the board, but it not Works.
Hi Duefectu,
Okay...when you press and hold the pushbutton and the LEDs stay on, you are in bootloader mode.
In Device Manager, what does the device appear as? It'll be under "unknown" or "USB devices."
There is no metal square below pin D0 on Netduino Plus 2. Instead there is a round fiducial there to align the pick-and-place robots which make your board. [With the gen1 boards, the square erase pad served both purposes.]

The Netduino Plus 2 not appears in the device manager in normal nor Bootloader mode. I tested on three PCs:
Windows 8 x64: Not appears on the device manager
Windows 7 x86: Not appears on the device manager
Windows 7 x86 (old hardware USB 1.0): Appears as "Unknow device", with an error configuring usb device.
In all cases, not appears in the device list of the ST DFU Tester, nor MF Deplyment Tools. It seems that the USB port of the Netduino is dead.
you sure its damaged? netduino can survice 12v, the regulator is actually rated much higher (but will get a heat problem when you draw too much current)
Hi Duefectu,
The power circuitry is rated for 12V; we write the specification at 9V because 12V can create a lot of heat loss and some 12V power supplies are so dirty that their power supply is not 12V at all
The standard way to erase and deploy to the chip is via USB. We could make a separate hard reset feature, but it wouldn't do much good since you wouldn't be able to program the chip afterwards. It sounds like in your case the USB cable is either not making a good connection with the USB jack or the USB data lines have been damaged somehow.
If your board is new and you feel like it was defective rather than electrocuted, we of course offer a 30-day warranty on all Netduinos.
Please let us know if you have any other troubles,
Chris
P.S. Before you give up on the board...I would try another USB cable. It may sound funny...but sometimes USB cables get worn out and they only work well with some USB jacks.
I just ran into the exact same problem you are having. I tried new cables, new computer, everything. Same exact symptoms you're having. The device shows up either as "Unknown" or a blank device under "Portable Devices".
Everything had been working fine until last night/this morning and then poof, nothing.
I've had this board for several months now, so I'm pretty sure I'm out $60 now. Very disappointing, because I was really enjoying what I was putting together.
I take a closer look to the USB connector, and I try checking continuity tester with a USB connector and following the tracks of the plate.
The board is new, it has less tan two weeks, and it worked only a few days. Can you send me the details of the return?
Where did you purchase the board? Your Netduino Authorized Reseller should be able to swap you for another board.
Chris
I just encountered this same problem. I have a two week old or so N+2 and it worked great until this morning. It now won't show up as a USB device even if I hold the button on power up. The blue light is always on when I apply power.
I've tried 3 different USB cables with no better results. Is there any recourse: boot from sd card, hard reset, etc?
I'm fairly careful with static precautions, and I've got it mounted on a lexan board with standoffs. The last thing I was working on was connecting to a 20x4 LCD display. Maybe I pulled too much from the 5V on the N+2 for the backlight?
Any help would be appreciated.
BTW, I've found your forums to be very helpful, and everything has been working well up until now. I'm using mine for the basis of a beer brewing control project. I'm using PT100 RTDs for temperature logging and am planning on running a PID controller for control.
