What is the Netduino Mini?

Any chance a Netduino Mini Plus is on the way? An extra 4 pins for the ethernet data lines and an extra quarter-inch or so of board length for the MII chip?

You can add Ethernet TCP/IP networking support to the Netduino Mini using a SPI-based networking module. We'll have more info on this soon.

I believe the SPI pins Chris is referring to on the Netduino are pins 14, 15, 16 and any other data pin. The SPI bus requires a chip select pin for each device attached to the SPI bus.

The Wiznet W5100 ethernet module uses the SPI bus to communicate with the microcontroller.

I am aware of Wiznet's capabilities, and maybe I am reading too much into this, but I got the impression from Chris's statement that they had something specific in mind for use with the Mini.

Given that the unit isn't available in the states yet I'm just planning and thinking about it all more than anything.

Just ordered one to gift myself on the 25th! Looking over the schematic... If you ever plan to tweak the PCB at all, would you consider using a lower drop regulator (300mV) instead of U5? That would help in a stand-alone project designed to operate off a single Li-Ion or LiPo cell.

Any particular power regulators you'd like us to investigate? Perhaps the Netduino Mini needs a special-order brother in the future...

Not that I know of in the price range of the MC33269. The LT1965 is great, but too expensive! LP3871 instead of U5 would work in both applications, might be < $1, and is very LDO. Merry Christmas to you and yours too.

Would it be possible to re-route the PCB so that instead of connecting the SPI0 pins PA12, PA16, PA17 and PA18 to headers the SPI1 pins PA21, PA22, PA23 and PA24 were used? That way also audio DAC's could be interfaced using the SSC (which also doubles as SPI interface).

Hi mhelin, We wanted to keep the Netduino Mini electrically compatible with the regular Netduinos, so it exposes the same SPI channel. That said: 1. We'll definitely consider this with new designs. 2. Netduino Mini is open source hardware, so you're welcome to build your own board. Chris
