I bought the netduino Go thinking it would be great as a first platform to play with with my kids (a lot harder to mess it up, right?), but after a couple of days we've done just about every combination they can think of involving potentiometers, an LED, and a button ...
So I pulled out an HC-SR04 range finder, because my youngest daughter (she's 8) thought it would be great to turn the potentiometer-based nightlight into a "I wave my hand and it changes color" nightlight. I hooked it up to the shield base with some code from

Having some trouble making the thing work, and it made me wonder, just how slow is the shield base?
Does the lag from the shield base make it unusable for anything like this? What about networking?
Should I be picking up some breakout board connectors for the GoBus cables or something as a better way to connect things like this?
