Picoscope or Rigol. Don't mess with the cheapo "toy" scopes unless you really are in it for just a fun hobby. Also, don't mess with PC scope software that literally takes input to the line in port on the soundcard. I visibly cringe when I hear about these things. My rule of thumb is, if you are going to be a bit serious about this, you want to spend at minimum $500 (maybe less if it's a Rigol ;) ) to get a good quality DSO scope.

Hesitating between these two : Saleae or DSO 2090 USB PC USB Oscilloscope 40MHz 100MSa/s 2CH Picoscope are way out of my budget (which is between 150 and 250, tax and shipping included)
Started with C in 1985, moved to Vb3 ... to vb6 and stopped. Now started with .Net and learning C# and VB.net and wishing VB.net was on MF !

Just banged my money to saleae. My reasoning: Within my price range, cool hardware and software design, open API and community support. Plus, I guess I will be in Digital Kingdom for quite a while... who knows one day I would write some app for it?

I'm still finding my 4 channel IkaLogic up to the job, but for those who need 16 channels, Saleae are now doing the Logic16.

I've been looking at an ARM DSO Nano single channel scope but been looking for reviews.

FYI, there's a very good promotion about a 100MHz scope.
Atten is a good brand, at least for hobbists:

Biggest fault of Netduino? It runs by electricity.

I've been looking at an ARM DSO Nano single channel scope but been looking for reviews.

I tried the Nano but returned it the next day. Basically it's a toy that can be somewhat useful for slow signals. Remember, scope bandwidth should be at least double the frequency of the signal that you want to measure. Preferably 3 - 5 times to get a good picture.

I recently purchased a RIGOL DS1052E which I am really pleased with plus they are now on sale in many countries.

The 1052 has an analogue bandwidth of 50 Mhz and 1GSa/s. Inside it's the same scope as it's bigger brother DS1022 which is 100 MHz and the 1052 can be modified through software to become a 1022 and 100 Mhz.

I bought the Oscium iMSO-104 (http://www.amazon.co...30864604&sr=8-1) which is a bit on the expensive side for a casual buy, but I already owned an iPad and an iPhone which makes it very convenient. It's got a single channel of analog at 5MHz and 4 channels of logic input. I haven't used it a lot but it has already solved the original problem that I purchased it for with my Netduino.

By the way, there's another device out there that seems pretty nice - the Quant Asylum QA-100 (http://www.quantasyl...ucts/QA100.aspx). I'd be interested to hear from anyone that has experience with it. The only reason I bought the Oscium instead of this one was for the portability.

I purchased this baby:
OWON SDS7102-V 100MHz 1GSa/s Digital 2Ch Oscilloscope w/VGA and LAN Ports $417
Really does have the lan port, got it in three days via UPS and got the optional battery.

There are also these for a little less:

OWON SDS6062-V 60MHz 500MSa/S Digital 2Channel Oscilloscope w/VGA & 800x600 LCD $345

refurbished OWON SDS6062-V 60MHz 500MSa/S Digital 2Channel Oscilloscope w/VGA & 800x600 LCD $245
