#66144 Is the Netduino 3 layout open source as well?

Posted by bryancostanich on 31 December 2016 - 12:36 AM in General Discussion

I believe that the firmware would be the same, yes. As long as you have the same USB wiring.

N3 is very open source. you can find all the board and schematic files here: http://www.netduino.com/downloads/

#68162 Need help getting back up and running

Posted by bryancostanich on 08 May 2017 - 02:31 AM in General Discussion

sounds like the firmware on the device is 4.1, and you've got the 4.2 SDK installed. you'll want to update your netduino plus's firmware to 4.2. See this post: http://forums.netdui...-v420-update-1/

#66183 Netduino 3 PCB files in ASCII format

you might need a file converter or something. PCB design software is notoriously bad at importing other file formats.

We just have the .brd file, but it should open in Altium. Which model are you looking for, 3, 3 Ethernet, or 3 Wifi?

Those things shouldn't be issues at all.

#66408 Bootstrapping a Custom Board with Same Processor as NetDuino

Posted by bryancostanich on 17 February 2017 - 07:01 AM in General Discussion

Though it's worth pointing out; if you want the same wifi as what's on the N3W, it's pretty big.

I think you could just upload the N3WiFi firmware to it, and it should work.

By the way, you could make it super, duper small if you chose to get the MCU in a WLCSP (Wafer Level Chip Scale) package. That's a chip form factor that basically does away with the plastic around the die (the actual silicon wafer) and just puts a thin layer of plastic on top and some solder balls on the bottom. I think that MCU in the N3WiFi is like a 1/4" square in the WLCSP.

Could be pretty cool. And _very_ small.
