USB interface with Custom GUI

Hi everyone I am planing on getting a netduino, but I want to know if it is possible to communicate with the Netduino from a custom program which will set an output when a certain button is click in the GUI or to read and display info in the GUI, if you know what I mean? I would like to control it via software. Would appreciate any assistance Thank you
