#21248 New Oomlout NEDX (Netduino Starter Kit)

Posted by Arron Chapman on 02 December 2011 - 07:54 AM

Hot off the press, there's a new Netduino Starter Kit (NEDX) from Oomlout. This is similar to the Arduino Starter it (ARDX) and the Sparkfun Inventor's Kit for Arduino.

ItsDan did a lot of work converting and writing samples for Oomlout's kit, so I would like to give him a big shout-out for his contributions. Thanks ItsDan for all your help in the community, and specifically for helping make this possible for Oomlout and the legions of NEDX recipients who will learn from your code!

Chris

P.S. I believe that the kit is open source, and you can even download the tutorials at the bottom of the linekd webpage.

OOOH YAY! Now I have something to suggest to people.

#20084 What's in the magical, mysterious, box of crappy surplus?

P.S. No, not a super-secret new Netduino. Just to clarify ;)

Right sure, I knew I should have been after Walker, I wanted that N++ prototype.

Alright guys, the box has sorta' stalled. Illustrious Leader Chris Walker still has it, he said it should be going out around the end of the week. :)

#19906 Code fails when battery powered.

Posted by Arron Chapman on 28 October 2011 - 09:54 AM

I have some code which reads from an analog temperature sensor, then displays the result (converted to F) on a small LCD. When I run the code with the USB attached it will run fine for hours, however when I run it on battery power it stops working after a few minutes, until I reset it. When this happens I can ping it from MFDeploy (after I reattach the USB cable). I have attached the project that I'm using.

I gotta' say, trying to get this moving has been a bit of fun, and I look forward to getting to box.

For everyone who thinks they don't have anything to contribute, ANYTHING will do. Among other things I plan to toss in some Caps, resistors, a few transistors and maybe even some diodes. I have some mystery (they are labeled and datasheets can be found but IDK what they are for) ICs that might make it in the box. I might even have a hobby motor or two. I don't expect to get much out of it (at least in term of dollar value) but I'm looking forward to finding something cool I can play with. Remember that $$ isn't the object of this, its finding cool or useful stuff, and passing along some cool stuff that you'r not using.
