Is it ok to have multiple power sources in a project?  I just got my netduino 2 plus last week and I am trying to build a Halloween prop like this one:

There are only three parts:  a servo, some leds, and a voice recorder/player.  I have figured out how to use the servo and leds and control them from the netduino.  I have the the servo and leds being powered by 4 AA batteries while the netduino is being powered from the usb.  I figured out that in order to use the 4 AA batteries I had to make the servo and leds circuit use the same ground as the netduino.  My last part of this project is incorporating the recording/playback module from radio shack:

I am trying to alter this device to use a transistor controlled by the netduino just like they do on this page:

I am thinking that in order to use a transistor controlled by the netduino to replace the play button on this device I will have to wire the ground from this device to my common ground.  Is it ok to do that since this is 9 volts?
