This is not directly related but looks an interesting way to build smartphone apps for interfacing with your Netduino, for example via sockets over a network.

 

As I understand, XMarine would enable you to use Visual Studio for writing apps for both Android and iOS devices.

No, I haven't tried it,  but I have used Basic4Android,

It is very much like Visual Basic and a painless way to write Android Apps. They have a lot of libraries and examples so it is easy to get started. In case anyone is interested, here is a pass-on  50% off coupon I got when I purchased it:
