Hello forum!

 

I have recently acquired a Netduino plus 2, and I had a few questions about Motors and the size/number of motors that can be controlled by the Netduino as well as which set up would work best.

second post lists 3 possibilities for controlling motors with the Netduino

 

1: transistors

2: H-bridge

3: Motor sheild

 

I'm interested in 1 and 2.

 

which would be better for a beginner?

which can control more motors?

 

How many motors can be controlled by the Netduino? the only examples I can find involve 2 motors.

depends on the power consumption of the motor and the voltage you out into the netduino (more volts in = more heat for the regulator = less power output)

 

id suggest using external power supply for motors.

Of course. I read that the Netduino doesn't have the voltage to power most motors.

 

 

my questions are referring to controlling, as in start/stop and direction (spin clockwise/counterclockwise)

i see.

 

 

ok, i assume most Motor shields use an h-Bridge.

a shield would be the easierst ofc (maybe one that accepts external power supply)

 

or just build an h-Bridge yourself, wich requies a little more work.

 

Transistors i dont suggest, they have a voltage drop and are only capeable of some milliamps (like 200 the Standard ones).

 

mosfets would be way better, but still, and h-Bridge is the way to go.

Thanks, now i know where to start :D

 

However, how many motors can you control with a H-bridge setup? i'm looking to control the spin direction and on/off of of about 8 DC motors...

 

any suggestions as to how (if possible) to do this?
