I am planning on purchasing a netduino plus 2. My project requires
reading from a USB sonar rangefinder. Is it possible to put the netduino
into USB host mode?

I read the STM32F405RG (reference manual) and it DOES mention USB OTG/USB Host mode.

If things dont work this way out of the box, would I instead need to use a USB Host Shield? What usb host shield is compatible with the netduino? Im currently looking at this one:

I would love some clarification on this.

Thanks

Hi kidfob, USB Host isn't supported by Netduino Plus 2. The hardware required for true USB Host (or USB OTG) support is pretty substantial. And unlike USB Client, USB Host requires that you create drivers for non-standard-class client devices. The simplest path forward is to grab a sonar rangefinder which has a serial output. Is there a readily available serial alternative? Chris
