Hello Complete Newb here to the Netduino and microcontrollers

I have been moving right along learning this Netduino Plus 2. I have had a few problems where I had to flash the firmware to get it back up and running but so far it has been no problem, until today. I bought a Seeed Motor Sheild and was trying to figure out how to use it. I attached the sheild and wrote a short program using a PWM. When I ran the program I got no response. Now my netduino is non responsive. I disconnected everything from it and It wont show up in STDFU Tester, DfuSe or MFDeploy. When I try to enter into DFU Mode while holding the button nothing happens no blue light and no sound of attachment on the computer, however the power light does come on. Please any help would be awesome. I am really loving this thing and hoping its not shot!

Try plugging into a different USB port (esp change from front to back ports or other way). This will change to a different USB controller, and often can kick the PC into re-recognizing attached devices).

EMG,

Thanks for the reply, however I had already tried that. Still nothing. Anymore ideas?

Hi heatharthur,

Hopefully nothing got fried in the board. I am pretty sure you already tried booting your PC, right? Did you try removing the driver and re-installing it?

Also try this if you haven't so:

Hi heatharthur, I would also try rebooting your computer, to make sure that the USB root hub hasn't been auto-disabled by Windows. That happens on my Dell laptop from time to time when I'm connecting/disconnecting things. Netduino has USB overcurrent and reverse voltage protection. It has extra USB ESD protection. These boards are built pretty tough, but it is possible to electrocute them or severely overload them. If you plug in the board via a USB cable, nothing is plugged into it, and the blue LED does not turn on...that means that something is damaged. It may be something as minor as the blue LED itself...or it could be something more significant like a power regulator. We don't see a lot of Netduino failures. Even with accidental abuse, the number of damaged boards seems to be significantly less than 1%. If yours has been damaged, we would appreciate more information about what you were doing...so we can continue to find more ways to protect the microcontroller and circuitry in each new generation of hardware. Welcome to the Netduino community, Chris
