NETDUINO PLUS 2 ERASE APP

Tight loop NP2 erase app

Best Answer mbyamukama, 22 February 2013 - 12:41 PM

I finally figured it out. In Device Manager, I uninstalled the "STM32 BOOTLOADER" and. after installing the new versions of the STDFU Tester and DFuse Demonstrator at this URL, I plugged the Netduino in (holding the button down) and it was successfully recognized as a device in DFU Mode. After that, I followed the reflashing procedure and I am now back in business.

Thanks.

Hello Everyone.

All the documentation I have obtained on erasing the netduino plus dont seem to work for the plus 2. I have tried using the gold erase pad but to no avail.

I am facing the usual issue of a tight loop on the device and I have been locked out.

I understand we can nolonger go into Tiny Booter. Besides, holding the button at startup serves a different purpose now.

What is the actual procedure of erasing the NP2 or removing it from this state?

Have you tried reflashing the N+2 with new firmware as described in the pinned topics at the top of the Netduino Plus and Netduino Plus 2 forum.

For instance, the 4.2.2 Update instructions can be found in this posting.

Regards,

Mark

Hello mbyamukama, As Nevyn mentioned, the gen2 Netduinos have a new pure-software reflashing procedure. Just follow the firmware update instructions linked in the above post and you should be good to go. Please let us know if this works for you! Chris

I plugged it into the USB port, button pushed down.

The blue led goes on and stays on (Does this mean I am in bootloader mode?)

BUT I DONT see the device in the STDFU Tester application when I start it. As such, I cannot carry on with the procedure.

One Jeff had a similar experience yesterday but it doesnt seem to have been resolved yet.

Hi mbyamukama, If you hold down the button while powering up your Netduino gen2 via USB...yes, that will put it into bootloader/recovery mode. Try opening up Device Manager on your PC. See if the device appears when it's plugged in this way. There could be a device driver mismatch. Chris

Hello Chris.

It shows up under "Other Devices" as "STM32 BOOTLOADER".

I am not using the PC for anyother ST Micro Development so I have no idea what could have gone wrong.

Hey Guys,

I posted the same problem yesterday and found this post today.  It worked thanks for the added information and if you can ignore the new thread I created, that would be greate.

Hi guys.

My N+2 was refusing deployment, so i attempted the erase method specified using DFU etc.

The firmware erased just fine, but in the DfuSe Demo application the Upgrade button remains greyed out...

Any ideas as to how i can flash the firmware back on? Did i miss a step?

Couldn't have gone tits up at a worse time

Thanks.
