I have an NP2 that I am attempting to upgrade to 4.2.2 update 1.  The update seems to go fine but when I use MF Deploy to reset the MAC address I get an error dialog "Unable to erase configuration sector memory".  It turns out I was using the MF Deploy that came with .Net MF 4.3. I switched over to MF Deploy from the .Net MF 4.2 install and now I can set the MAC address fine from the Network configuration dialog.

I just wanted to mention that in case anyone else ran into the issue.

Hi Mike L, Thank you for sharing your experience here. There are a few glitches in NETMF 4.3 still, and this is a good one to talk about and fix. Chris

Same problem for me.

.NETMF 4.3, Netduino SDK 4.2.2 (Jan13), Netduino 2 Plus (FW:4.2.2.1)

When the 4.2.2.2 firmware for Netduino Plus 2 ships later this week, would you two mind testing it out and seeing if NETMF 4.3's MFDeploy still has issues changing the network config? Chris

Hi nhale,

Thanks for the update. This is a bug in the new .NET MF 4.3 SDK.

Sorry to point you over there, but could you please post a bug report ("issue") at netmf.codeplex.com?

"MFDeploy v4.2 works great with my Netduino Plus 2, but MFDeploy v4.3 cannot change the network configuration."

From what we're seeing, this seems to affect a lot of boards running pre-4.3 firmware.

I can ping MSFT and echo this as well.

In the meantime...you can download our custom version of MFDeploy and put it in a folder on your computer...and then run it anytime you want to change the network settings.

You can also update to the 4.3 beta firmware (which should be stable)...the .NET MF 4.3 SDK should work well there.

Chris

Not sure if anyone else has ran across this but I believe I found a solution... (hadn't seen this posted)

After opening mfdeploy.exe and attaching to the netduino

Select: Plugin>Debug>Reboot and Stop

At which point mfdeploy will allow you to configure your network settings as you would expect. I have to connect to my network and ping to be absolutely but disconnecting and reconnecting shows that the values that I entered are saved on the device.

Please don't try byronator's suggestion.  After trying it, MF Deploy no longer sees my Netduino.  It shows up in Device Manager, nut not in MFDeploy.  Not really sure what to do now.

Restart your netduino and hold onboard button. It's OK.
