Hi,

I have a requirement to add more serial ports (about 12 of them).

Any idea how to implement?

Do we have serial port expanders (something  like MCP23017 etc.)?

And in case we expand ... can that be interrupt driven rather than polling based?

Can we use any analog switches/multiplexers with digital control?

Thanks

Pankaj

Hi Pankaj, I would recommend taking a look at SPI->UART converters. If one of them has an /INT pin, you should be able to get an interrupt that new data has been received. Additionally, once we lift the one-shield-base-limit on Netduino Go, you'll be able to add 12 UARTs by plugging in 4 Shield Bases. And if someone builds a generic multi-serial-port module, that'll work the same way. Chris
