I have installed MicroFrameworkSDK_NETMF42_QFE2  and  netduinosdk_64bit on two separate computers. Both are running VS.NET 2010.

On my windows 7 PC, everything installed fine. When I create a new project, under VB.NET, Micro shows up along with the Netduino project types.

On my Windows 8 computer (installing using the same files) the new project types for C#, but not VB.NET. VB.NET shows the micro framework, but there are only 3 types in that folder (Class, Console, and Window Application). When I try to build the project from my windows 7 computer, I get the following.

Loading Deployment Assemblies.Resolving.Link failure: some assembly references cannot be resolved!!Assembly: SecretLabs.NETMF.Hardware.Netduino (4.1.0.0) needs assembly 'Microsoft.SPOT.Hardware' (4.1.2821.0)Assembly: SecretLabs.NETMF.Hardware.Netduino (4.1.0.0) needs assembly 'mscorlib' (4.1.2821.0)Assembly: SecretLabs.NETMF.Hardware.NetduinoMini (4.1.0.0) needs assembly 'Microsoft.SPOT.Hardware' (4.1.2821.0)Assembly: SecretLabs.NETMF.Hardware.NetduinoMini (4.1.0.0) needs assembly 'mscorlib' (4.1.2821.0)Assembly: SecretLabs.NETMF.Hardware.NetduinoPlus (4.1.0.0) needs assembly 'Microsoft.SPOT.Hardware' (4.1.2821.0)Assembly: SecretLabs.NETMF.Hardware.NetduinoPlus (4.1.0.0) needs assembly 'mscorlib' (4.1.2821.0)Assembly: SecretLabs.NETMF.Hardware (4.1.0.0) needs assembly 'mscorlib' (4.1.2821.0)Assembly: SecretLabs.NETMF.Hardware (4.1.0.0) needs assembly 'Microsoft.SPOT.Hardware' (4.1.2821.0)Error: a3000000

The windows 8 computer also has VS 2012 installed.I am not sure if that could be a factor. Any Ideas on how to get the VB.NET project types working?

Hi RobinBones, It looks like the project has Netduino 4.1 assemblies (built against NETMF 4.1) as references instead of Netduino 4.2 assemblies (built against NETMF 4.2). Can you check the properties on the SecretLabs DLLs in your project references? If their versions are 4.1, please remove them and then re-add them from the following folder: C:Program Files (x86)Secret LabsNetduino SDKAssembliesv4.2 As far as templates go...both C# and VB templates are installed by the installer, so I'm not quite sure what's going on there. Are you using VS2010 or the Express versions? Any chance that VB is installed in a custom directory? Welcome to the Netduino community, Chris

I took advantage of the $15 Microsoft offer for a Win8 Pro Upgrade. When I ran the compatibility program on the computer with VB Express 2010 installed, VB was flagged as incompatible with Windows 8. I couldn't find why it is incompatible. I am going to just stick with Win 7 until I can find an overriding advantage  to upgrade.

The VS 2012 is 64-bit only, and computer must be 64 bit. And not 32 bit

I am using VS 2010/XP with 32 bit. And cannot upgrading to Window7/8.

So i have to buy new computer that comes with 64-bit and USB 3.0.

I ended up downloading 4.1 and 4.2, installing both, and not everything seems to be working.

I don't have by netduino device yet. It should come in today.

I'll let you know how it goes.
