I haven't come across any issues myself, and if anything I have found this firmware release to be fairly stable except for some issues surrounding various SPI modes. Do you have anything device on the .NET Micro Framework Toolbox that you're having issues with at the moment with the new firmware?
And welcome to the community EnergySmithe! I just realized this was your first post.
Steve
Thanks Steve! I did run into some issues when trying to deploy but am not convinced that they were not just path related issues or something similar. I am going to do a fresh install of visual studio, and everything and then re-flash the firmware and see what happens.
There is no direct register access, although NETMF unintentionally supports some unsafe pointers. So you might be able to manipulate the CPU registers via some hacking there...
Netduino 2 source is now posted on the Downloads page.
This includes Netduino 2, Netduino Plus 2, and Shield Base (NETMF) source.
To compile the firmware, install the .NET Micro Framework 4.2 QFE1 Platform Kit. Then copy the zip file over the "C:MicroFramework_v4_2" folder. Standard build process works from there.
BTW, we updated the Shield Base NETMF firmware to 4.2.2 with this build. For those of you using Shield Base as a dedicated NETMF board, select the serial port you'd like to use for deployment in the "solutionsnetduinoshieldbaseplatform_selector.h" file. It default to "COM5" (dummy port).

Chris, that makes sense! Thank you for your reply!
While trying to figure out what was going on with that issue....I seemed to have locked my device into dfu mode.... I accidently uploaded the firmware using the upload action instead of the upgrade action in the defuse software...
Any way to get this issue resolved...?
The blue led never goes off.... if i unplug and plug back in, it seems the device does nothing.... if i hold down the button then plug in, the device is recognized in dfu mode. I've tried erasing and loading the 4.2.2 and then leaving dfu mode... all seems fine...i reboot then nothing...blue led on... no recognition on mfdeploy
So, the only response i can get, is when i manually put it in dfu mode...then i can erase, update, etc.... and it will say it came out of dfu mode when i leave dfu mode, but I get nothing after that....
Netduino Plus 2 btw

Hi mikefielden,
Did you check the "verify" checkbox in DFUSE? Did it verify that the firmware was written alright?
Also...did you fully erase the board (about 10-20 seconds worth) using STDFU Tester?
Finally, try rebooting your PC. I know that that sounds silly, but it's amazing how helpful that can be sometimes.

(Yes, i always check verify)

I'm not sure if this had anything to do with it, but after I flashed the 4.2.1.2 firmware, I used the erase to erase deployment files that showed up on the mfdeploy... I then went back into stdfu tester and went back through erasing and then dfuse to upgrade and it worked this time.....
Thank you so much for your time and hopefully i will have a handle on this.
I am proud to be a part of the netduino community and to have people like Chris Walker help me. I am one of 3 guys that I know of at my workplace who have recently purchased a netduino and it is all we talk about.... (we should be working ;-) though)
Anyone else old enough to remember a time when that was the first thing you tried?
Unfortunately, being in IT as a .Net Developer (but I have been in the help desk environment), this is still the answer to a whole lot of problems on windows pc's.... this is getting better over the years though!!
I've tried 3 different machines, even an old XP box I dug out of my basement, still crashes. I even tried rebuilding the source with the fix above but can't get it to build on my VS2012/Win8 box. I was able to fix a bunch of errors, but a few dependent libraries and my mediocre C++ knowledge has me stumped on the rest.
Anyone know of a fix? Since STDFU hasn't been updated in a few years, maybe this community should be maintaining a working build/ toolset?
Hi Strut,
Are you using v3.0.0 or v3.0.2? The latest version is the one you want.
Also...it does crash on my machine when I have certain USB devices plugged in. Do you have any USB devices (other than your keyboard and mouse) plugged in? I wouldn't disable them; I would just unplug them.

I'm using the 3.0.2. The only USB devices I had on any of my machines was the keyboard and mouse, and I've even tried moving to the old school PS2 ones with no luck.
*update for clarification*
Some built-in HID devices still remain on all of my machines, thus the attempt to disable what I could. (trackpad, card readers, emulated USB hubs etc.)
*Update*
I just installed on my work Win8 machine and it launches. Figures, this thing has a keyboard, mouse, Wacom graphics tab, headset, and external drive... all USB...
I hope I may ask this here: when is the 4.3 SDK expected to be released?
Are you looking for 4.3 firmware...or VS2012 support?
We're working on both. It's not a big upgrade, feature-wise. But it's a big upgrade, firmware-integration-wise.

Chris, does 4.3 have ethernet unicast/multicast support?

I'm looking for both and want to know on what term I can expect them (days, weeks or months?).
