My stepson is about to be a father, and as he lives in new Zealand, my wife is determined to go ASAP, to be there for her first grandchild (she's only 45, too soon!)

Anyway, I have had to make some hard choices, and Ive decided to sell my entire Netduino development stash. I should also mention that this particular Netduino Go! just might be the first one ever sold - you'll have to ask Secret Labs, but I placed the order on Amazon within seconds of it showing up late at night on April 3, after stalking the forums all night with everyone wondering what was about to be released.

Anyway, it is a fairly sizeable lot, including development boards for the two micros that the Gobus Modules use, for developing your own modules. That was my initial intent - but between other projects, ADD, and now needing to raise new zealand airfare, I have to sell.

Posted Image

Included in the lot:
1 Netduino Go! (I believe this is the first one ever sold - a bit of history)
1 NetDuino Go! LCD Touch Display Module ([Nwazet)
2 Netduino Go! Shield Base modules
2 Netduino Go! Potentiometer modules
2 Netduino Go! RGB LED modules
4 Netduino Go! Button modules
1 Netduino Go! Piezo Buzzermodule
1 Netduino Go! Relay module ([Nwazet)
6 5cm go!Cables
12 10cm go!Cables
1 30cm go!Cable
1 Large Acrylic Plate ([Nwazet)
2 Small Stackable Acrylic Plates ([Nwazet)
3 Go!Bus extender modules (GHI)
2 Netduino Go!Bus breakout modules (male) (Proto-Advantage)
2 Netduino Go!Bus breakout modules female(Proto-Advantage)
1 SainSmart Prototyping Prototype Shield Mini Breadboard for arduino/netduino v 5 (SainsSmart)
1 SainSmart Arduino/netduino Sensor Sheild v 5.0 (Sainsmart)
1 STM32F4DISCOVERY Evaluation/Development Board for the STM32F4 (DigiKey)
1 STM8S-DISCOVERY Evaluation/Development Board for the STM9S (DigiKey)

The price for ordering all of those right now would be about $375-$400 before tax and shipping.

I'm really hoping to get at least $250 for the lot. Everything is in absolutely pristine condition, as new. I'll throw in a bunch of USB cables and some 5v power supplies too.

If it helps, I also have a ton of other random components I could include - LEDs, Mosfets, Zener Diodes, Resistor arrays, Transistors, Pushbuttons, capacitors, power regulators, crystals, - you name it. (Ask Black Lamb about his grab bag he got with his NetDuino)

Also, if anyone feels like just randomly donating money to help us raise airfare so we can be there for my wife's first grandchild's birth, we would be elated at that prospect too.

In any case, if anyone is interested, please let me know?

Price reduced to $199 for the Lot, if anyone is interested... Basically $400 worth of Netuino GO! stuff for more than 50% off.

I also have a 3rd small stackable plate, usb Micro cables, and a 5v power supply to throw in.

(Getting desperate!)

Free shipping too, if you pay via paypal!

Not sure what others think on the forums, but I hate to see you sell off your collection for this.  I can understand the desperation but to give up your hobby and goods you've paid for is crazy.

If you setup a Paypal "Donate" link or button of some type, maybe others would be willing to donate to help.  As someone who has built and run a successful Charity Car Club I see every day what a difference the many can make with only a few resources.

If you set up the link and post it here, I'll be happy to help and will start by donating $50.00 to the fund.  I hope that others will match my contribution and help make this possible for your wife.

Can't promise to match Dave's $50 but I'll happily chip in with what I can.

Cheers,

Mark

Well, the baby is due in March - we're going to need to buy her ticket (and my son's ticket) sometime in the next few weeks before it gets too close to that time and the rates shoot up...

We've already accepted that we can't afford for me to go - now we're just trying to scrape together the money for her and my 6 year old son.

If someone wants to donate - wow. I wouldn't know what to say.  I put my paypal email address in my profile under the "MSN" section...its just my username @ hotmail.com...

I would of course love not to have to sell all my stuff, but If I don't get her to NZ for the birth of her first grandchild, I know I'll be in the doghouse until continental drift brings new zealand right to california....

Can't help with the continental drift as I had deferred that project until next year.  Airline fares are another matter - hope this helps and all goes well,

Glad to help. It's an important moment and one you can't do over. Someone I know who used to work for the airlines told me you could call and talk to them. Sometimes they extend certain discounts for life events such as this. Worth asking.

Thank you also to Steve and Timothy....

You guys have all combined to give us a $250 head start towards the $2800 air fare for my wife/son.

We really really really appreciate it. Thats' what I was hoping to get by selling everything, so now I think I can keep tinkering. I am going to take Dave's advice and call AirNZ and Qantas to see if they have any "going to be grandparents" fares for her, and maybe cut some off of that.

Just as some background: When we got married in 2005, we did so in Hamilton, New Zealand (far up on the north Island). My wife came back with me to the US for 3 months on a tourist visa, but then had to go back to NZ to wait for her residency visa, which we expected to be just a month or so.

It turned out to be 8 months before she got her visa, and it also turned out that she was pregnant when she went back to NZ. I didnt get to see my wife for 8 months, until just 6 days before my son was born, I was able to fly to NZ for the birth. I missed the entire pregnancy, and was not really prepared for seeing my wife suddenly 9 months pregnant. She claims to this day my initial reaction was to just point and laugh (which I deny!)

And now my almost-7-year-old son is going to be an Uncle. And he'll get to see his big brother (who is 27)  become a daddy (hopefully)

That is pretty cool. Keep us posted on how things are going. Family always comes first and I hope you're able to get your wife to New Zealand on time. Amongst a ton of other reasons, one thing I like about the Netduino community is how they step up to help their fellow Netduino members...almost family like :)

Cheers,

Steve

Thanks also to Charles Arbuthnot (I'm not sure what his username is here)

We're actually up to $280 from the kind donations from the community here...  Even more, my wife's perception of "all those computer nerds you chat with" has gone up immensely.

Now you can explain to her the difference because you have an example.  We are actually Geeks not Nerds.  The difference is that Geeks have social skills. ;)

Mister Arbuthnot has been continually helping people out in the forums and in less than a year he has posted a whopping 320 posts! Though most would know him around here as carb.

Good job Chuck :)

Ive explained to my wife the difference between geeks and nerds. It is much clearer now:)

I've sold a bunch of my other hobbyist stuff (old stuff, mostly boe-bot and obsolete RFID stuff) and it looks like we will have enough for her to go (her ticket is $1545) but we've decided that we dont have enough for macallum to go, too.  Which means he's going to stay with me for a month or so, and get to come into work every day. So much for my 4 weeks of bachelor parties and programming binges!

I have a question for people here... I suppose I should post it in a more general place, but I dont want to create too many threads...

Does anyone here have any desire or interest in any rfid applications with the Netduino Go? Ive worked on some ideas on and off, but never was able to focus on anything long enough to produce much of anything. I keep changing my project ideas.

So, I'll ask you guys - is there something that the community here thinks might be useful?

Ive been doing RFID stuff professionally for 9 years now, ISO15693, ISO14443, Proprietary LF, C1G2, and the new super-long-range C3 that only a few people in the world know about at this point. Ive also specialized in creating multi-drop networks of multiple RFID devices (usually on a RS485 bus driven by some sort of ARM microcontroller) and creating custom firmware for RFID nodes to allow custom macros or code fragments to execute on the reader itself away from the host (distributed processing)

Im really looking for some sort of project to do on the NGO using my skills, but myideas have been all over the place, and so I never finish anything. I have thousands of ISO1563 tags, most of them rather small (8-12mm), probably about 25 EMS/Datalogic C0405 RFID (see here) readers (they do ISO15693, ISO1443, and Icode1) - I wrote the firmware for those myself when I worked for EMS/Datalogic

Also, I wrote the firmware for these multidrop rfid network "gateways" (see here (Ethernet/TCP) and here (Ethernet/Modbus) and here (Devicenet)) - I have about 6 or 7 of those (TCP and Modbus ones)

I also have 2 or 3 of these Wireless (Bluetooth) based RFID readers (see here) - I also wrote the firmware for these - it is 80% the same as the C0405

Ive been trying to figure out what to do with them. They are all obviously "hackable" since I wrote the original firmware and have the build environment and source still, so Ive been trying to think of ways to turn them insto something useful for the netduino community (there are always C0405s and gateways on ebay, and the sellers are always willing to take lower offers, I usually get the readers/gateways for about $50-$60 each)

Ive taken the C0405-485 readers, which normally connect on an RS485 bus master (the Gateway devices) and wired them to cheap ($7) RS485 to USB adaptors, and written little software drivers that allow them to be used directly on a PC (or, with not much modification, a Netduino, or maybe a Go) - but other than that, all these things just sit on my desk.

Does anyone have any ideas for something fun and/or interesting to do? (Also, if anyone needs contract work done in this area, I am available in my off hours, and still looking to raise money for my wife's trip :)

I'll think about it and see if I get any ideas.  I too worked in RFID for a while doing cargo container tracking applications.  I've done some RFID for alarm systems for security doors and personnel tracking.  Probably lots you can do outside of those realms but nothing comes to mind.

Personaly, I'd love to see a Netduino Go module for RFID, but I'm not in a position to start on another module right now.  However you can be sure I'll remember you if/when I do start on such a module :)

"Ok, Glass, connect to Netduino Go Project...."

My Wife and Son leave for New Zealand on Tuesday. I'll have a month to actually pursue some projects.

Anyone interested in a Google-Glass/Netduino project? :D
