I just came across an article talking about using the Micro .Net Framework with an Xbox controller. Is this possible on the Netduino? http://tinyclr.blogs...-net-micro.html

Should be. You'd need a USB Host shield and drivers. We're looking at various SPI-based USB Host shield options.
