In the full version of Visual Studio, I can right-click any file in the Solution Explorer and choose "Open Containing Folder" to locate that file in Windows Explorer. Is there a similar way to do this in Visual Studio Express?

Hi hari, Are you doing that with a plug-in? I don't get the option in either version of Visual Studio... In Visual C# Express if you want to open up the folder that a file resides in, you can right-click on the file (in the Solution Explorer pane) and click Properties. Then select and copy the path+filename, press Windows+R (for Run...) and insert the text. You'll need to remove the file name at the end, but it should be a pretty quick way to locate the file's folder. Chris

If you are using Visual Studio 2010 I believe that you only get that option in the right-click context menu for certain items (e.g. folders) I know that the "Open Folder in Windows Explorer" is in the context menus for solution files, project files, and folders in Solution Explorer. I looked at the context menus for other files like .xml and .cs files, but that option is not available. I am assuming this is the case because those are 'files' and not 'folders'. Whereas the solution files, project files, and folders are 'folders' so you can "Open Folder in Windows Explorer'.

Sigh... you are right Chris, it is a feature of PowerCommands. Unfortunately, it does not work for VS Express.
I guess I have to be content with those keyboard contortions. Posted Image
Thx.

I do love PowerCommands. The Productivity Power Tools are also quite awesome.
