Sadly, I havent been doing much dev work with my netduino plus&go(s) since I first got them back in april - too many projects! I had one driving an RS485 network of RFID readers (Datalogic C0405's that I got on ebay for about $50 each) but ended up having to spend my time on other things. Im planning to pick up where I left off. It looks like I'll need to upgrade the firmware on my shield base(s) and nwazet touch screens.... is there anything else I'll need to do to get back up to speed? Some of the other projects Ive been doing have been with other small embedded systems, and they have some nice cases for their hardware available. I especially like some of the cases for the Raspberry Pi (I have 3 of those for another project) from adafruit and built-to-spec - are there any similar case solutions people are doing with the Netduino Go? I know the 8-socket architecture doesnt really lend itself to a case - but maybe an acryillic case where the sockets are brought out to vertical sockets on the case itself, or something... Has anyone explored any of these options? Maybe it' just me, but I really like shiny or clear acrylic cases for things like this... Feel free to just tell me I've being lazy and that I should cut my own acrylic. :) BTW, I have one of the new parallax EMIC2 text to speech modules, and I was thinking of writing a little driver for it this weekend on one of my atmel f2 or f4 discovery boards... mostly for my 6 year old to play with. But a nice case would help make the whole thing a little more 6-year-old-proof!

Keep us posted on the EMIC2 text to speech module. I haven't pulled the trigger yet on getting one but have a couple projects in mind. Curious how well it works.

I'll try to stay tuned! My ADD often complicates that :D

Can you tell us any more case details? Will it be a full enclosre, with slots for cables, like this or even this (this is one I have for the rpi, it even has light-pipes for all the board LED to the side of the case.)

Or is it two plates, top and bottom, with standoffs, with open sides to allow all the socket cables, like this?

I like full enclosures for finished projects (like black one above), but open-side ones for development (for quick cable access)

What else can you tell us? Clear? Black? Colors? Options for integrating the nwazet touch screen plates?

Hurry, tell me before I get distracted :)

Hi Mike,

You can build your own Netduino Go! 'Open Case' today using a stackable plate, a display face plate and a few standoffs (see the attached pics for an example) but we'll also offer highly customize-able closed and open cases in the future.

Now, if you excuse me, I believe I saw a squirrel...or was it something shiny....

Cheers,
-Fabien.

Okay, those look perfectly functional :) I might spring for a face plate, now that I have my touch screens updated finally.

Dave: connecting the EMIC 2 module to the NGO (directly to uart0/Com1 for testing) was easy enough. 4 wires and a speaker, and 5 minutes of coding. I wrote a quick app to open the port and send some text strings to it, and it sounded just like stephen hawking. I think Im going to have fun with it.

Of course connecting it directly this way sort of defeats the purpose of the NGO's gobus. My goal is to plug it into an STM8S discovery board and write a little SPI to serial pass through loop (unless there is already one out there) so it plays nice with other modules. I think I will try that in a couple days. But the emic2 module itself seems easy to use.

For the speaker, I just used a Velo360 (http://www.amazon.co...r/dp/B002CS2T4I)
- the emic2 has an audio jack, and the velo360 just plugs into it.
