I purchased a netduino plus at Maker Faire this weekend. I just tried the Getting Started PDF and Visual Studio Express hung with the status of "Preparing to deploy assemblies to the device." Googling the status message led me to this posting. Tabbing back to Visual Studio I noticed the Project Properties had changed. The Deployment Transport had switched from USB to Serial and the Deployment Device had switched from NetduinoPlus_NetduinoPlus to COM1. I reset to USB and NetduinoPlus and re-started. Now it is working fine. This may be a bug in Visual Studio Express.

Hi John,
That's a really interesting observation (Visual Studio switching to serial by itself). If you see that again, can you let us know? I haven't seen that before--but if we can reproduce it we can work with Microsoft to resolve the issue...
Welcome to the Netduino community!

We've tested this in the lab and found a glitch in the way .NET MF behaves on the Netduino Plus when using "tight loops".
Official 'known issue' thread:
http://forums.netdui...udio-debugging/
We've sent details to Microsoft and are working on a resolution. In the meantime, a simple workaround and recovery procedure are detailed in the 'known issue' thread.
Thank you very much for bringing this to our attention,
Chris

Great, thank you for the update, I have verified adding "Thread.Sleep(1);" to the demo works!
