Tomorrow I'm heading to a fantasy fair in the Netherlands. This is a costumed event and I like to dress up like a dark wizard or something. But in the Netherlands the weather is a bit unpredictable. Currently, for tomorrow, the forecast gives a lot of rain. So I prepared in style: This is a Netduino Go! Lipo powered (tutorial will follow later) and 3 RGB LEDs. I still have to make some cool code, so it will fade from color to color, but the concept is there! Now I just need more RGB LEDs, 5 sockets are still unoccupied :D

I think you could pull off the dark wizard look quite easily! I'm interested to see what you come up with. I've seen the "Blade Runner" style umbrellas before but they've always seemed too weak to use in any sort of ambient light. As further ideas, I think having a button to immediately switch to a red and orange swirling pattern would be useful to you. When you get angry you can hold the button down and switch into this mode to look extra menacing. When you've calmed you can release and let the colors go back to swirling through a fuller range of color.

That's pretty cool, Stefan! The RGB LEDs seem quite bright, to shine through the umbrella. What a creative idea. ErikN -- nice touches :) "Unhappy wizard mode"! I do thing that rotating colors would be awesome. Chris

Well, I've added a Mode button, switching between: "Police flashing lights" -> "Just recoloring" -> "just white to see in the dark"

The recoloring can be seen here:

<brainstorm> Could you add a button in the handle that would trigger a few quickly timed flashes to white to create a lightning effect? </brainstorm>

Oh that would be awesome! It's possible I suppose, but not within 8 hours. (in which I also have to sleep) Also, Go! cables aren't long enough for that goal, but I could make my own module. I know how that works I believe B)

Hi Stefan!
Oh, another bright idea of yoursPosted Image Did you use any special LiPo-functionality of the Go or did you simply power the board using that kind of battery instead of a regular one?

Just a lipo connected with a power booster to the Netduino. No fancy stuff to check the state of the battery. Perhaps some day that would be a cool module!

Three RGB LEDs. Next time I'm going to use more so the light will be spreaded a bit more. Attached is a picture with me and my wife underneath it.
