I've attached the Netduino drivers to this post. We support the following operating systems: Windows XP Windows Vista (32-bit and 64-bit) Windows 7 (32-bit and 64-bit) NOTE: these drivers apply to Netduinos running 4.1 firmware. The newer 4.2+ firmware uses integrated drivers which are set up by the Netduino SDK installer.

Chris,
Would you mind quickly summarizing the various software components for us N00bs?
Are these correct?
  • Netduino Drivers - Needed by PC to talk to Netduino board via USB
  • Netduino SDK - Netduino Application template and netduino specific libraries
  • Netduino Firmware - pre-loaded on the netduino board
  • Netduino Application - Visual Studio solution and project containing C# code that us n00bs write.
  • .NET Micro Framework SDK - Microsoft's framework used by all of the above.
Being 100% open source, the source code for all of the above are also available for download.

hari, The one thing that I'd add is that the Netduino SDK includes the Netduino drivers. You do not need to download those separately. Chris

Hi DLA,

I downloaded the .zip file. What to I do next?
I have win7 system.

If you open up Device Manager on your computer, you can right-click on the Netduino entry (under USB devices) and select "Update Drivers..." The wizard should guide you from there.

If you get stuck at some specific step, just let us know.

Welcome to the Netduino community,

Chris

Hello Chris,

I've just unpacked my first Netduino Plus 2 and tried to connect with my laptop running Windows XP. Hardware Wizard made a couple of attempts to install new device driver. First attempt failed. For the second attempt I provieded NetDuinoDrivers (from your zip file). This time I've got a message saying that the driver did not pass "Windows logo testing" and it is not recommended to coninue with its installation. So, I stopped the process. What should I do now?

Regards,

Zbyszek

Hello Chris,

Its me again,  this time to let you know that I have ignored a couple of "Windows logo testing" warnings and got me Netduino pinging back successfully. Therefore, I should be able to proceed.

Regards,

Zbyszek

I am stuck. I have flashed my Netduino using the 3v3 to gold square. Now I can't do any of the next steps to bring it back up.

In the windows XP device manager I have a USB device (my netduino) that has no drivers. I have attempted to install the drivers you've attached, but no luck. When I lselect the folder when I attempt to install the drivers I get a "Cannot install drivers" message.

Without the drivers, the atmel is failing saying it cannot connect.

Any suggestions?

Hi Guys.

I have a Netduino 2 which I received today :-). I currently develop software using Visual Studio 2012 inside a VMWare virtual machine. I read from another post that the drivers for the board need to be installed on the host system first and then it can be used in the virtual environment. I don't want to install anything else but the drivers into the host machine.

1) Will my Netduino 2 work under Visual Studio 2012 as is or do I need to upgrade it?

2) Can I use the drivers from this post or do I need to go somewhere else?

Thanks

Jason

Hi Jason,

2) Can I use the drivers from this post or do I need to go somewhere else?

I'd recommend using the Netduino drivers which are installed (into Program FilesSecret LabsNetduino SDKDrivers). The MFUSB drivers are legacy and will probably work for you inside a VM. The WinUSB drivers are the newer ones and may not work inside your VM. Be sure to force Windows to install the particular drivers you're wanting to use. Welcome to the Netduino community, Chris

Hello.

After the automatic driver install failed a couple of times, I downloaded Cris' ZIP here and proceeded, but this time the message I received was this :

Windows encountered a problem installing the driver software for your device

Windows found driver software for your device but encountered an error while attempting to install it.

Netduino

Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupt or missing. (Code 39)

What do I do now, any hints ?

Thanks, Emilio

An update :

After a couple of hours attempting to solve this, it turns out that when I disabled drivers signature enforcement in my Windows Vista 64 Advanced boot options, the installed driver came up never to give errors again. It seems to me this driver does not carry a valid Windows signature, is it so ?

Emilio
