To celebrate the launch of Netduino Go, and to say thank you to our early adopters... ...we made the first batch of mainboards using a high-quality matte black soldermask. It's quite stunning. The modules use the standard premium glossy soldermask, and we switched back to glossy for the second batch of mainboards. All of those who bought mainboards already will be getting the matte black ones. There will probably be a few floating around for a while--so you may happen to get one in a few months if your reseller stocked up on a bunch. Fairly soon, all of them will be glossy black again. If you get a matte black one, please let us know what you think! Chris

Thank you Chris. I think I can speak for everyone in this forum, and say that we are very excited and counting down the days our Netduino Go arrives. However I did just realize that our mail service in Canada isn't running on Good Friday and Easter Monday. <_< Oh well, I guess my family will actually get to spend some time with me this long weekend. Thank you very much for all of your hard work and dedication. We are all in for some exciting times ahead.

Steve

My thoughts on the matte solder mask con be refined to: awesome! :D I like the fact that it doesn't show fingerprints! It also doesn't get oily from your hands, unless you touch it after eating or dipping your hands in oil :P . It looks very nice and smooth. Essentially, its very shiny, but figuratively.

I did notice the matte black on my NDGo. When compared to the glossy on the shield base, it really looks nice. Not that the shield base looks cheap. But the matte black really stands out - and its cool to know that it will be a badge of early adopter-ness.

I think I prefer the matt finish.

Both the matt and gloss are very nice boards. When I solder on the JTAG headers I just had to clean all the flux off properly afterwards.

Looks freaking awesome :D Loving the contrast over the tracks, reminds me of the start of the film hackers (I know terrible film, but we are all allowed our guilty pleasures ;) )
