I get an error message when I try to open the .BRD file - should it be able to open in Eagle Light?

If it's anything like the other products then the file used Cadence Allegro. There's a free reader available.

Hope this helps,
Mark

Hmm, I tried the Allegro viewer also with no success. Guess I'll try it again.

Allegro Viewer should work fine (at least it does on my machine).

Hmm, can't seem to get the error message to past here. It says "ERROR(SPMHOD-36): Cannot open drawing. The database type is not appropriate for viewing in this product."

Mattster -- which viewer did you download, exactly? What version?

I had the exact same issue. Dont run the app that the installer puts in your startup menu. Go into the install directory, and run this app:

\Program Files (x86)\Cadence Design Systems\Allegro Free Physical Viewers 16.5\tools\pcb\bin\allegro_free_viewer.exe

That viewer displays the .BRD file!

Yeah, that was the problem. The installer package loads two different programs onto the disk but then puts the wrong one in the Start menu. Works fine now. Thanks!
