Hello, I ordered a Netduino today and am looking forward to getting it. I also installed the .NET micro framework and the SDK. I can compile existing projects I downloaded here and study the code. Is there anything I can do to train myself before the actual hardware gets delivered? Thanks

Hi Asymptot, Welcome to the Netduino community! [and great username BTW] Hmm, not sure why the Netduino Application template is not showing up. Can you read the following diagnostics thread and let us know what's happened on your machine? http://forums.netdui...mplates-missing As far as training goes, I would watch the tutorials and perhaps check out a few of the videos on YouTube. Do you have any particular projects in mind to build? Chris

Thank you, I found the solution to my problem in another thread. I have two "My Documents" folders, and the template went in the wrong one. I copied it to the right folder and now it works well. For now, I don't have any specific project in mind. Although my middle term goal is to build a robot able to go from one location to another while avoiding obstacles. I don't have enough experience to do that just now, so in the meantime, I'd like to do simple projects to get some confidence. I have a good experience in C#, but none at all in hardware so far. I was wondering if there was some sort of device emulator, in order to debug codes without the hardware. Also, any advice on small projects for beginnes I couls start with?

I have not contributed to the Netduino emulator project in a while, but here is my contribution from a while ago.

I would suggest playing with these classes: OutputPort, InputPort, InterruptPort, Timer, PWM, SerialPort.
As you play, you'd start to think of how you'd apply what you learn. I kept saying to myself: "Hmmm, that's cool, wouldn't it be neat if..."

Thank you for all your advices. I'm checking out the classes right now, that should keeps me busy until I get my Netduino. And I bought a kit containning several leds, resistors, switches, etc... I can't wait to get all this.

Well, thanks Matt. I'm still newbie here and looking forward to buy Netduino nextweek. Thanks for giving this link that could be used as my reference on getting started. Great stuff you've shared.
