I am creating a controller for my aquarium and wondering if you could share the approach with me and some code?

Hi Zemuss,

A lot of my time has been spent on proof of concent so far and developing individual elements and the overall architecture.

The aim for the aquarium controller is for it to be wireless exposing a set of api's that can be called to configure the device and to manually control the controller via a web interface.

There will be a standard operation held on the controller in case an issue occurs on the server but the majority of intelligence will be abstracted to azure, a home server and message bus.

I plan to implement a message driven architecture, not only for the aquaruim but for my entire home.

In terms of the services, I will create weather service roles that provide weather information for specific places where my fish are from. This will provide lighting, wave and heat data.

I will also have feeding services that will run the autofeeder, a schedulers setup to provide automated water change, top up and dosing.

I'll post some code when I get round to it.

I would be interested in any ideas you have had.

Many thanks,

andy

My controller is a work in progress and am using the netduino go also. However there are a few things stopping me from working on the controller. Wireless and storage which are not out yet from what I understand.

Here is what I want to work on:

  • Temp Sensors
  • PH Probe
  • Lights using PWM
  • Web Server

Like you I am thinking of creating a API layer to communicate to the controller.

I like your idea and would like to work with you.

For sure contribution makes for a better result. You can get wireless using serial with a gainspan WiFi module from sparkfun. However as far as I understand the shield base doesn't support that ability yet. I tried a while ago with an sd shield on the shield base and it didn't work sadly. I will setup a git repository when I start putting some code together. cheers Andy

Andy,

I actually just purchased a Netduino 2 Plus for my project as everything I have read thus far leads me to believe that the Netduino Go is being shelved.

I can still contribute to the project if you would like, but for me coding the Netduino2 Plus will be easier.
