I posted a blog tonight about getting my tracked vehicle chassis moving. You can read the full deal at http://www.chrishamm...cle-part-1.aspx I also uploaded the code I'm using into a samples project on Codeplex. http://christocnetduino.codeplex.com/ I have a couple of questions though before I go further with the project (this weekend). How are people powering their Netduino's for projects that aren't hardwired? I also need to power the Motor Shield, should I get one power supply to do them both? I'm headed to Jameco tomorrow afternoon to pick up a twin motor gear box so I can try to make this thing turn, so I could pick up a battery holder of some sort while I am there. Thanks for any advise! Oh, there's also a video :D

you could power it with a lipo battery, see this category for details (a bit scrolling to below): http://www.sparkfun.com/categories/54

depending on space/weight constraints, you could also use "normal" batteries - i currently use a 9v battery or 6xAA battery holder for the netduino and another battery holder (8xAA) for the motors, but that does take up some weight and space :)

I would recommend looking into a lipo battery from hobbyking.com Please note you will need: * A suitable charger * A voltage monitor * The battery (of course!) * Proper charge leads * A SMPS or "switching BEC" as the hobby world calls it; to regulate voltage I highly recommend this route, and I power my mobile projects exclusively with lipo batteries at this point.

Chris

It ended up making it a little nose heavy, and also caused an interesting problem with the track, but I'll talk about that later :D

It might be an okay tradeoff. The ground probably looks more interesting in 3D :)

I posted a more detailed writeup of the Tank enhancements, along with photos, and video of both the vehicle moving around, as well as 3D video from the vehicle POV. http://www.chrishamm...duino-tank.aspx

Looks like a nice upgrade--and the separate WiFi video stream is clever. I'm going to have to get some colored 3D glasses... Chris

You obviously didn't pick up the "summer" edition of Make magazine leaving Maker Faire on Sunday (they were passing them out). They have glasses inside ;)
