You don't need a new Netduino SDK for 4.2 RC2, but we do have a new firmware build. Testing now... Chris

Hi Chris,

Cool - does the firmware include Coreys simpleNGen?

When do you estimate a final 4.2 SDK and firmware?

Thanks.

The RC2 will not include SimpleNGEN -- but we will make a version with SimpleNGEN available after the final release of our .NET MF 4.2-based firmware.

Firmware based on .NET MF 4.2 RC2 will probably be ready for testing next week. There were some last minute additions to the core which pushed us over the size limit and we're working to slim things back down a bit to where they should be...

Hi Chris, You mentioned some while ago you were working on a on-chip storage option (I guess instead of directly using the ExtendedWeakReference). Will you be including this feature in the 4.2 firmware? And do you have an estimate on the 4.2? Thanks.

Hi Klop, The .NET MF 4.2 release is scheduled for this coming week. Once the core is done, we'll start integrating all the new features. We hope to have the irst 4.2-based release (with updated AnalogInput and PWM) within the next few weeks--and then we'll add on the new storage features this fall. Chris

Hi Chris,

Ok, that sounds great. What about adding Coreys SimpleNGEN - will you be doing that when adding the new storage features?

Our goal is to eventually enable a way to load Corey's SimpleNGEN with any new firmware release, using interop. We'll build a version with SimpleNGEN once the 4.2 release goes gold...but hopefully at some point in the future we can make it all "loadable at runtime."

Hi magarcan, We're waiting for the final .NET MF 4.2 release. It's supposed to be two weeks behind the RC2 release...will probably be out within a week or so. Then we'll build a series of new firmware releases based on "gold" code. Chris

Ok, so we will be waiting for this. But... what have we to do in order to update firmware?

When it's done and all downloads are provided:

- Re-install both SDK's (Microsoft's and Netduino's)
- Flash your tinybootloader (http://wiki.netduino...ep-by-step.ashx)
- Install new firmware (http://wiki.netduino...ep-by-step.ashx)

Thanks!! Now, we only have to wait firmware and new NETMF to be released.

Hi Bobi and welcome to the boards :)

I think I'm bringer of bad news here, it's not yet released.
I hope it'll come soon though! Very impatient here :D
