I'm a new user, just purchased a NetDuino Plus. I use Visual Studio 2010 Premium, SP1. Just installed MF SDK 4.1 and Netduino SDK 4.1 - I see the Micro Framework project category and it lists the standard MF project types, but the Netduino project templates are missing. If I create a MF Console Application that works and the Netduino shows up in the deployment options, so it looks like the SDK is installed correctly. I'm guessing though that I will be missing the hardware provider because I haven't selected a Netduino project. Any suggestions? Please :)

Hi Tim, Welcome to the Netduino Community! If you browse to "C:\Users\{insert your username here}\Documents\Visual Studio 2010\Templates\ProjectTemplates\Visual C#\Micro Framework" what do you find there? Could you try running Visual Studio as Administrator?

Hi Tim,

Welcome to the Netduino Community!

If you browse to "C:\Users\{insert your username here}\Documents\Visual Studio 2010\Templates\ProjectTemplates\Visual C#\Micro Framework" what do you find there?

Could you try running Visual Studio as Administrator?

Thanks for your quick reply Stephan. First things first, I always run Visual Studio as administrator.

My computer is on a Windows Domain and my My Documents folder is redirected onto a server, so in fact it's not on my C drive. This might be a cause of something not working right. I'm going to move my Visual Studio templates folder onto my local hard drive and try re-installing the Netduino SDK, let's see if that helps.

OK, so I checked and my Visual Studio was already configured to store templates locally on my C drive. After installing the Netduino SDK, there are no Netduino related templates anywhere within my template folder. Specifically, I looked here: C:\Users\Tim\Documents\Visual Studio 2010\Templates\ProjectTemplates\Visual C# (this is where Visual Studio is configured to look for templates, but is NOT within the My Documents folder). However, I found the Netduino templates in the MyDocuments folder over on the server. So they were installed, but just not in the place where Visual Studio was looking for them. It might be worth updating the installer to read the location from Visual Studio.

It might be worth updating the installer to read the location from Visual Studio.

A few people have seen this including myself. It's actually relatively common as I've seen this with a few libraries.

I am experiencing exactly the same problem. In my case, I could use Netduino template project for my first project. A couple of day before, I was not able to see it again. I only have ClassLibrary, Console, Device Emulator and Windows Application templates. I tried to re-install Netduino SDK, but it did no work. Now I will try Micro Framework SDK. Igor.

Hi, I re-installed .NET Micro Framework SDK and Netduino SDK and it did work! Maybe this will help someone else too. Regards, Igor.

I have two computers that were installed in two different ways. The first computer is from installation C: Windows, D: Users and ProgramData The second computer is installed C: Everything and later Users moved to D: On my second computer the templates were installed in D: but Visual Studio still checks in C: for some weird reason. Maybe this will solve someones headache ;) /Henke

Hi,

I too am having problems getting Visual Studio 2010 Premium to show the Netduino project templates.

I have installed QFE1 and QFE2 MSI. the .zip items are in the folder Visual Studio 2010TemplatesProjectTemplatesVisual C#Micro Framework

but VS does not show then when I go to create a new project.

I have run VS2010 as an Administrator to no avail.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Richard
