This thread actually has 2 questions. 1) When deploying the new beta firmware, MFDeploy gets to the stage "Executing Application" and then hangs there. Is it finished? I try hitting "Cancel" but the only things that works is unplugging the USB. 2) Any hints on getting the MFDeploy menu "Target->Configuration->Network" to come up? I click that and then MFDeploy just hangs... If I unplug the USB at that point, I get a message "Device has old or unsupported configuration" Perhaps this is because the firmware is not properly installed? How do I get to a good configuration / firmware? I just received the netduino plus this week. All this effort is because the device is not properly getting a DHCP address on my network (interestingly, it picked up the DNS servers, but the local address stayed at 0.0.0.0). I hoped the latest firmware might fix this so I tried upgrading...

Several people have mentioned using a "hold button down" technique to unfreeze MFDeploy.

I'm VERY much a newbie, so any advice I give should be considered untrustworthy. However, pending correction by a senior member of the forum, my own solution to this issue was to download an obsolescent version of MFDeploy version 2.0 from the following site. For some reason, this 2007 version didn't hang.

Those links helped a lot. Especially the older mfdeploy.exe. And now my DHCP is working! I can begin creating my web server to control my lava lamps. :-)

This is interesting, I have seen these same issues repeatedly, and assumed it was because I am running on XP in VirtualBox. Guess not related to the VM after all. Do you ever get hangs or crashes from a normal solution deploy from within Visual Studio?

Search for the post you want to cross reference and open the page.
Copy the URL to the clipboard (assuming Windows).
Start to write the reply and highlight the word(s) you want to use as the link text which will appear in the reply.
Click on the Link icon in the editor tool bar (it looks like a chain link with a small green blob in the bottom right corner).
Place the URL into the input box and close the popup box.

In addition to what Nevyn said, there is post number at the right top corner of each post, it looks like #6 (it is very small, though). You can extract the post number (e.g. 13161) from the link that appears after you click the hyperlink and paste it into "Enter the post ID" in the dialog that is displayed when you select "Post Link" style in the post editor styles combobox.
