Hi guys!
I'm building my own I/O shield for my N+2, but instead of give current to the outPins from the Netduino +5V, I prefer to take current from the +5V/2A external power supply that I already use on another shield in the same project.

This because of, for istance, if I would use 16 standard leds (one on each outPin) those will use about 300mA! Same thing while using some relays.. Am I wrong?

Any idea on how to work around this project, giving a new feature to Stefan's job?

Thanks!

EDIT:
I have bought a darlington arrays i.c. (ULN2003A, 0.47€/each) and a reed relay i.c. (D1A051000, 3.45€/each).

Datasheets:
http://www.datasheet...ronics/5279.pdf
http://www.datasheet...t7alts320yy.pdf

So, imho:

[*]With the darlington arrays I can inject current from another supply, maximum 500mA...
[*]With the reed relay I have the lowest power consumption (from N+2), but for many outPins it will be a great € investment..
Is there anyone interested in the project?
    What do you think?

    Bye

I am rather interested to see how this works as it sounds like I am trying to do something rather similar.  I would like to add also an override switch after so that you can either turn it off, manual on, and finally let the Netduino control the on off.

I have one problem with 74HC165, i´m using the library IC74HC165 from http://netmftoolbox.codeplex.com/, but the first bit (pin 11 from CI) can´t be mapped, the software mapped the pin 12 like port 0.

anybody can help me ?
