Recently, I decided to start documenting what I've learned about fiddling with the Netduino so far. Partly because it helps me consolidate (in my head) what I think I know, but also because I imagine there are some people out there who would like to learn how to use the Netduino beyond the "Getting Started" PDF on the Netduino website, but aren't sure where to look.

So I present to you (for peer review):

Exploring the Netduino: A Beginner's Guide.

I've written 3 posts so far and I have a 4th one in the works (maybe I'll post it tomorrow.)

Any constructive feedback or criticism welcome!

Thanks! Great work. You published this guide at the right time, perfectly. I just bought a netduino yesterday. I like that you started with some important basics (since it's a beginner guide and I'm a beginner) and explained some bottlenecks of NETMF. It is important to know the basics before you can dive deeper into it. I'm looking forward to see more parts from you.

Here's the next post in the series: Number 3: Building the Circuit on a Breadboard

Constructive feedback welcome. :)

Hi Mister Matt, Nice writeup! One thing though: The analog inputs on the Arduinos can also be used as general I/O similar to the Netduino. On the UNO for instance, I2C is specifically on two of the analog pins. /Thomas

nicely written! On http://www.pretzello...driving-an-led/ there's a broken link though behind "the Netduino “Getting Starting” guide"

Ooh, good catch. Fixed. Thanks!

Thomas: yeah, I'll add another sentence in the first post explaining that. Thanks for the tip.

Matt, I've tried to add some (more) comments to you posts, but Word Press has flagged me as a spammer. You might think adjusting the spam threshold, or I wonder if WP can be configured to require approval for suspected spammy comments?

Really? weird. I had a Wordpress plugin bork my install the other day and I thought I had it fixed, but maybe it's messed up something else. I'll take a look at it now. Thanks for the heads-up.

EDIT: Ahh, I think I see the offending plugin. I think it's fixed now. Try again?

Hey Jonny, glad to help out the community.

Also, I've just posted my latest entry:

Cheers!

Wow, that is an excellent post. You do an especially good job of explaining the basics of how PWM and duty cycles work.

What is your day job? You would make an excellent teacher!

Hey Jonny, Thanks again for the compliments. I'm a programmer. Mostly C#/.NET, but some other languages, too. I've always thought I would make a good teacher, but was never sure about it. I definitely enjoy the process of technical writing and making things abundantly clear. The Netduino is an amazing device and I'd like to see it thrive, so this is my way of contributing to the community. :)
