Attempting to Flash Netduino Plus 2 with NETMF 4.2 fails

Best Answer Chris Walker, 27 May 2015 - 05:14 AM

Hi Razvan,

Netduino Update comes with the firmware files :) They're in the firmware folder of the NetduinoUpdate ZIP file.

If STDFU tester is crashing, then there's something making it angry :( Can you try uninstalling 3.0.2 and installing the newer 3.0.4 release instead (see download link at bottom of the following page)?

I am trying to flash NP2 with NETMF 4.2 (to bring it to the same NETMF version as my Mini) and I can't get that to work. The tool that is supposed to perform the operation does not even start on my laptop. Has anyone encountered this issue before?

Any suggestion on how to fix this?

Hi Razvan,

Which tools are you using? Netduino Update?

If you reboot your PC, can you start it then? [Just asking...in case it was already in memory.]

Oh, hi Chris. Thank you for answering and sorry for taking so long to continue the discussion (I just saw your answer after giving up on Netduino). Not to worry, my enthusiasm is renewed :-)

None of the tools that I have tried worked:

- I tried installing the STDFU Tester from the link in the pinned post. I have used the DfuSe_Demo_V3.0.2_Setup_amd64.exe (I have Windows 10, x64) and the program installed correctly (or at least without reporting failures), but whenever I try to start the STDFU Tester it crashes with something like: Application was not able to start correctly (0xC0150002).

- I tried using NetduinoUpdater.exe which simply crashes and gives no error. I only see the windows popup saying application failed to start.

Even if netduinoupdater would work, I have not seen any information about what to put in its configuration file to flash with firmware 4.2

3.0.4 Version seems to be working, at least it starts. I'll try following the steps and see if I can get my NP2 to version 4.2

Yes, everything works correctly, I am able to run the blinky sample built with 4.2 netmf. Thank you Chris!
