Hello everyone,

I just started with Netduino and electronics in general.  I chose Netduino over Arduino because I am all ready versed in C# for ASP.NET.  My question, I have a project where I want to light some hanging stars with leds.  I want to use PWM to make them appear to blink slowly on and of like twinkling stars.

The problem is, if I read correctly the GPIO pins only output 3.3V and I would like 5V to go to the LEDs since it makes them the brightness I need.  Is there a way that I can push PWM with 5V or use a transistor with PWM?

Thank you anyone who responds,

Greg

Hi Greg,

You can use a transistor for this. In fact, it's the same way we handle LEDs on the Netduinos themselves...

Check out the schematics over on the downloads page, and let us know if you have any questions.

Welcome to the Netduino community,

Chris

Hi asciiman,

I recommend using H-Bridges, rather than simpler transistors, when working with motors.

Choose the component which can handle your current requirements...and you should be on a good path.

Chris
