Hello, I am looking to start a project using a netduino that monitors the temperature of a greenhouse and sends out alerts if the temperature gets too low or too high. All I have so far is a Netduino Plus 2 board, and the programming part, I imagine, will be pretty simple, but I need help in identifying the parts needed to get it done; sensors, power, housing etc...I plan to use the wireless network for connectivity and Amazons SNS for sending out the text messages. It'd be nice to have a web service I can use to request the current temperature on-demand, but it will be on a school's network so I am not sure how much freedom I have, but any thoughts on that would be helpful too.

For the temperature I'd probably look at the LM35 sensors if the accuracy is not too critical.  These output a voltage which is proportional to the temperature.  This makes it easy to read using one of the analog ports.

 

For Wi-FI I'd look at the Toolbox code on codeplex and see if the modules supported are still available.

 

There are also plenty of examples of web interfaces for the NEtduino around.  One of the most popular seems to be the NeoMika web server.

You also can use the BMP 180 they use the i2c and are very cheap and easy to use.

 

Adafruit has them but you also can get them on ebay for a few pennies.
